Brian Peddie – Venture Builder
Dr. Peddie is an experienced consultant and executive who has worked with start-ups for over 25 years in the healthcare and biotechnology sectors. He is a strategist with a passion for building businesses and realizing new visions. His niche is helping businesses, especially small businesses, do business in the Federal Marketplace by creating new ventures and implementing proven capture management techniques.
Starting Out
He began his career as a consultant at Accenture, working in their business incubator in Chicago. After a liberal arts undergraduate education, he was captivated by the process and culture of working with nascent businesses. The dot-com world of the late ’90s was booming – until it wasn’t, and the aftermath provided valuable experiences he incorporated into his approach to building businesses and advising clients. His early consulting years at Accenture were formative and created a foundation of expertise in internal start-up strategy formulation, change management, process design, and strategic thinking.
Academia
In 2003, Dr. Peddie resumed his academic studies at Harvard University and the University of Florida, receiving a Masters of Education (M.Ed.) and Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.), respectively. His work at Harvard specialized in corporate learning, change management, and organizational psychology. At the University of Florida, he studied risk theories involving the commercialization of controversial biotechnologies. Merging the two academic worlds of biological science and management, he developed the Economic-Cognitive Model to explain the diffusion of perceived high-risk technologies into society. During the same period, he continued to serve as an advisor to small businesses and venture capitalists as well as angel investors in Florida and Georgia.
Binging everything togehter
Dr. Peddie left academia to continue to develop skills in the private sector, working with later-stage start-ups in healthcare and technology. He founded his present company, GovLogi, where he works as an independent consultant and investor in small businesses, many of which provide goods and services in the Federal markets. His clients share the common desire to transform their businesses to serve their customers better; Federal, State, and Local governments. Recruiting and networking and carefully constructed talent optimization design work play a critical role in providing high-value services to clients and realizing returns for investors and owners.
In addition to his work at GovLogi, Dr. Peddie volunteers for the SBA for local start-ups and small businesses in North Central Florida. He is a pilot and an avid outdoorsman. He loves to build enterprises and watch people from all walks of life succeed across all industries.
